Key Trends for SS 2013 – Sixties Style Dresses

One of the key trends for the new spring summer season is 1960s inspired dressing, as demonstrated by edgy monochrome, shift dresses teamed with  A-line cuts and trapeze shapes. Add into the mix peter pan collars and twee separates, together with bright graphics and geometric prints and enjoy the revisited 1960s styles which have been skillfully updated to look perfect for right now. They are indeed a breath of fresh air.

Here are some of my favourites:

MSGM Graphic Raffia Dress

This dress, pictured left, is a sleeveless mini shift dress in candy pinks and orange, with geometric lines and patterns combined to give a unique appearance. The panels are fun and the texture blocking adds this Italian brand’s cool style into the mix. Complete the look with dayglo sandals for evenings out, or tone down the dress for work with a black blazer and heels.

Goat Roxanna Wool Shift Dress

Goat is famed for its quality wool shift dresses and the Roxanna in vibrant green wool crepe is certain to please. The trapeze shape gives the dress a decidedly 1960s look, and teamed with the square neckline and slightly lower square back, the dress is stylilsh and sophisticated, creating a timeless yet on trend  new season look. It’s a 24/7 dress, perfect for work, lunch, weddings, garden parties and evenings out.

The vibrant fuchsia See by Chloe Silk Shirt Dress, pictured left, has an all over cobra effect texture to the silk from which it is made, giving it exotic credentials and an amazing texture. The tie around the neck and defined waist make this a really flattering dress. Complete the outfit with neutral accessories and let the dress do the talking.
